It’s all theatre. Just on a smaller stage.

Every plate that leaves a professional kitchen tells a story before the first bite.

The chef has spent hours balancing flavours, textures and colours. Then comes the final act: the presentation. Every garnish is placed with purpose. Every element has its role.

My role is to light that plate in exactly the same way a stage is lit at Chester Storyhouse. The lighting guides your eye, creates atmosphere, reveals texture and makes the star of the show impossible to ignore.

Food photography should respect the craftsmanship that has gone into every dish.

I’m not there to reinvent it. I’m there to capture the anticipation, the care and the experience the chef has created, so someone scrolling online can almost imagine sitting at the table.

Great food deserves more than a quick phone snap.

It deserves its moment in the spotlight.
