The videos you spend ages planning, lighting, recording and editing don’t always get the most attention.
Then you point your phone at yourself, say something off the cuff, barely edit it and THAT’S the one people engage with.
Lazy content often wins.
Although I’m beginning to think “lazy” is probably the wrong word. It’s low production, not necessarily low effort.
People don’t always want polished. They want something that feels immediate, human and real.
As a photographer, my instinct is naturally to think about the light, composition, background and how everything looks. But sometimes all that polish can actually put distance between you and the person watching.
So I’m learning to separate the two.
My photography should look professional. My videos don’t always need to.
Sometimes a phone, an interesting thought and the confidence to press record is enough.
And perhaps the biggest challenge is knowing when to stop fiddling with it and just post it.
