When a chef stands beside me while I photograph their food, I feel more connected to what I’m doing and disconnected from the world around me.
My attention settles on the dish. The textures, the colours, where the light falls. Having the person who created it beside me makes it feel more personal. They’ve made their choices on the plate; now I’m making mine with the camera.
I become so absorbed that everything beyond that little space seems to fade into the background. It’s one of the things I love about photographing food.
What do you get so absorbed in that you forget the world around you?
